In the beginning, God created all that is created. All things which He created, He made to display His Glory and invisible attributes. (John 1:1-3 ; Romans 1:20)

God created man in His own image. Through man, God displayed Himself from His Spirit form (John 4:24), into the physical realm. Gods light shining from heaven, reflected by man on the earth. Man was the chosen display of God in creation. (Genesis 1:26)

Before creation however, there was not nothing, God already existed in perfection and in eternity, (1 John 1:1-3) not needing anything, but being perfect in His divine Trinity; the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1-3) In this beginning, God the Father, who is omnipotent and all-knowing, decided who were His (John 17:6) through His merciful Grace, by means of their Spiritual re-birth, by the will of God and not by the will of man (John 1:13). By default, all those who were not chosen remained spiritually dead in their sin, because they were left to their own devices (Mark 4:10-11 ; Romans 9:11-13 ; Ephesians 2:1-3).

This He did to display the riches of His Glory, by the Grace shown toward His chosen people (Romans 9:23) and by the longsuffering with which He bares the unrighteousness of the rejected (Romans 9:22). Those whom He has chosen, from Adam the first unto the last man who will live on earth on the last day, God has written in the book of life, of the Lamb who was slain, before the first man was created. (Romans 9:23, Ephesians 1:11, Revelation 13:8).

In this, all things are for the display of His Glory (Romans 9:22-23 ; Isaiah 42:8 ; Isaiah 43:7). By Grace toward His chosen people and by longsuffering and judgement and wrath over the disobedient, God shows that He is both the Righteous Judge (Psalm 7:11) , bringing judgement and retribution over all sin (Proverbs 11:21 ; Exodus 20:5) and also that He is Merciful, giving Grace to whom He wills (Exodus 20:6 ; Exodus 33:19 ; Romans 9:15)

God before the beginning of time, did not look forward into the future, seeking who among mankind would find Him and choose to accept Him as Lord. For it is written: ‘The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one’. (Psalm 14) Mankind, including you and me, left to our own device, would come to nothing and we would end our lives journey by entering into eternal damnation, being dead in sin, as many of the world are destined to. (Ephesians 2:1-3) We would not choose God for, as Paul explains in his letter to the Romans: ‘ the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be’ (Romans 8:7)

However, when we were dead in our trespasses, Christ died for us, showing us how great love our Father has toward us. (Romans 5:7-9)

Thus the Glory of God, through the sacrifice of Christ was made so much more magnificent because it both showed His Great love toward us and the truth, that all sin is punished, either by nailing it to the cross in Christ, or by an eternal destination of the fires of hell in eternal darkness. In this, God displayed Himself the Righteous Judge, even when He passed over the sins previously committed by those who lived and died before Jesus (Romans 3:25)

So you see, you who believe in Jesus Christ and call out toward the Father in His Name; in trust that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6) and walk in obedience to His call… you did not choose Him first, He chose you ! (John 15:16) And you were chosen, not because of any intrinsic value  in yourself, but because of the great Worth of Jesus Christ in you and because of the mercy of our Sovereign God who reigns eternally and completely over all principalities and powers.

Now THAT is worth praising Him for, in eternity !

Amen !
